Working in an industrial setting or factory that produces food or drink can involve heavy machinery and equipment that can prove dangerous under certain conditions. One recent accident that led to a work injury in California has gained attention as a worker suffered burns. The accident occurred at an Anheuser-Busch brewery in Van Nuys.

On a Sunday, a worker was working near a vat of hot mash. Sediment from the mash needed to be moved.  The sediment was being funneled into tanker trucks when the man somehow fell into the vat of mash. Its temperature was reported to be 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

The man was able to get out of the vat on his own. Paramedics and firefighters were called to the beer plant to help. The victim suffered burns to his thighs that were characterized as serious and covered approximately 30 percent of his body.  He was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.

Burns and other injuries can lead to substantial medical bills and time off work to recover. A work injury of the sort this worker endured may require ongoing treatment and could impact his ability to continue in a specific line of work. Workers’ compensation benefits can help injured California workers get the medical attention and treatments they need and can also be a resource that enables those workers to stay on stable financial footing while they recover. Anyone in these circumstances  may benefit from enlisting the help of a legal representative experienced in handling claims of this nature.
