A fatal construction accident occurred recently in early September in Jamul. The accident involved a construction worker who fell around five stories and died as a result of his injuries. According to the authorities, it occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the project site of the Hollywood Casino, near Route 94. They say that a 56-year-old man had fallen from a platform that was around 38-feet tall. Officers from the California Highway Patrol attempted CPR, but to no avail, as the man apparently died instantly as a result of the injuries suffered from his fall.
The construction site, which is located on an Indian reservation, was shut down immediately for the day, with workers being sent home. FED-OSHA responded to the incident. They are looking into what ultimately might have caused the man’s fall.
