All jobs hold some degree of risk of injury. However, police officers often face significant harm while performing a variety of different tasks. Even when not actively pursuing someone suspected of committing a crime, officers who are patrolling could be involved in an accident. In fact, reports indicate that a California Highway Patrol officer suffered major workplace injuries following a collision while on a motorcycle.

The incident happened during the morning hours of a day in late September. According to reports, the officer was reportedly attempting to pass a vehicle when his motorcycle struck the rear of a stopped vehicle. He was reportedly ejected from the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to come to a stop in the fast lane while he landed in the number 2 lane.

Reports indicate that the man was transported to the hospital with “major injuries.” Social media posts indicate that he is expected to recover from his injuries. While police did not release the man’s identity in the immediate aftermath of the accident, reports claim that he has 10 years of experience with the California Highway Patrol.

Unfortunately, employees in California and across the country could experience workplace injuries in a variety of different situations. These injuries have the potential of having both physical and financial consequences as victims struggle with medical bills and lost wages. Most employers are required to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits, which cover the expense of injuries suffered at work. To help victims seek fair compensation while they recover from their injuries, many choose to consult with an experienced attorney.
