Work injury suffered at Steven Tyler’s California home

On Behalf of | May 28, 2013 | Workplace Accidents |

Construction work at a home can be just as dangerous as any other kind of construction work. A work injury that occurred recently at the California home of rock star Steven Tyler left a man injured as he was doing work on the outside of the residence. Steven Tyler was not at home at the time of the accident.

Workers have reportedly been doing large scale construction work on the huge house for some time now. The house is said to four or five stories tall. The worker was reportedly injured on scaffolding outside the house. He fell approximately 15 feet to the ground.

The fall left the worker with serious injuries, and he needed to be airlifted from the scene. A news article about the incident points to the fact that there are strict safety standards regulated by OSHA pertaining to scaffolding. Standards reportedly indicate that there should have been some kind of harness used for workers who are on scaffolding outside of a house.

While it remains to be seen whether any California safety standards were violated or who may be responsible if those standards were neglected, the man who suffered the work injury is likely entitled to workers’ compensation benefits. Those benefits will help the worker deal with the wages he may lose as he recuperates, and they are also intended to cover medical bills and related expenses incurred as a result of the work injury. The exact nature of his injuries was not reported; but if he is out of work for a long period of time, the workers’ compensation benefits may be necessary for him to stay current with his financial obligations.
