Any kind of factory work, especially where large factory equipment is used, can be extremely dangerous for workers. All factories in California have strict regulated safety standards; yet accidents can still happen. Recently, a California worker injured on the job died as a result of his injuries.
The 40-year-old man was reportedly charging batteries for a piece of equipment when he was fatally injured. The cause of his death appears to be electrocution but an autopsy was still planned to be certain of an exact cause. When a co-worker found the man, he was unresponsive and had burns on his body.
While medical attention was sought, the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to police, the accident was recorded by cameras at the location where the man was working at the time. The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
While these kinds of accidents are rare, they happen even at times when all necessary safety measures have been adhered to. When they do, those who are injured on the job or even killed have rights that are protected by the state of California. For this particular worker, his family will receive legally mandated compensation that may go a long way toward helping the family deal with the financial ramifications of his untimely death. The compensation they receive may help them deal with lost wages, funeral costs or any other outstanding bills or debts that their loved one’s death has heaped upon them.
