Working on different locations doing construction work can entail being exposed to dangerous situations. One California worker recently suffered a fatal work injury on a construction site at a rental car company. The site was near the San Diego International Airport.
The worker involved, a 29-year-old man, was climbing on rebar at the site. He was preparing the area for concrete that needed to be poured. Fellow workers reportedly heard him yell that the rebar was falling from the site. They rushed to help the man. He was still attached to a safety harness as the rebar came down upon him.
Despite calls for medical help and attempts to detach him from the safety harness, the man was crushed and died at the work site. Work at the site was halted for the safety of the other workers. There is no word as to an exact cause of the work injury and collapse of the rebar.
When a work injury occurs on a construction site, an investigation typically follows to determine the exact cause of the accident. When a work injury turns fatal, the family left behind may be entitled to benefits, benefits that may be necessary for them to contend with funeral costs and other end of life expenses.
