Any work or job involving the handling of gasoline or other explosive gases can be dangerous and worrisome, as there is a possibility of an accident. However, there are other dangers that can end up leading to incidents on the job aside from the dangers of gas. Recently in California, a man was injured on the job by a falling sign.
On a Friday morning, a worker was on the premises when an accident occurred. A 1,000-pound sign somehow fell and landed on the man’s leg. The gas station worker was trapped underneath the sign for approximately 20 minutes before being freed from it.
The sign caused what was described as serious leg injuries to the worker. There was no word as to the exact nature of the injuries. At the time of the reporting of the incident, it was not known why the sign had fallen as it did.
Leg injuries can lead to surgery, extensive medical care and possibly rehabilitation services. If someone suffers serious leg injuries as a result of being injured on the job, he or she may not be able to return to the workplace for some time. In California, workers who are injured on the job in any capacity have the legal protection of workers’ compensation to help them avoid financial hardship if they need time to recover. Workers’ compensation benefits can help a worker by covering expensive medical treatments and rehabilitation, along with lost wages if the worker needs time off to recover before being able to return to work.
