Work injury with gas tank turns fatal

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2014 | Workplace Accidents |

Any kind of work with gas or natural gas can be dangerous and lead to injuries. Because of the inherent danger of this kind of work, there are strict laws and regulations surrounding the operations of any natural gas facility in California or any other state. Despite these regulations, accidents can still happen and a work injury is possible. Recently, a work injury at a natural gas facility turned fatal.

The incident occurred when a crew was in the middle of cleaning out a gas storage tank. An explosion occurred but the source of the explosion was not known. There were four workers injured at the time of the explosion. Two of the workers were employees at the facility and two others were employees who were contracted.

The flames from the explosion were extinguished by firefighters. Two of the workers injured were being treated in a burn unit at a local hospital. One worker was treated and released. However, a fourth worker, who was 35-years-old died as a result of the injuries.

The injured workers and the family of the worker who died from his injuries may benefit from understanding how workers’ compensation benefits may help them as they deal with injuries and also deal with the death of a loved one. A work injury or fatal work injury in California can lead to expensive medical bills, lost wages and funeral costs. Understanding the nature of benefits after a work injury can help families avoid financial strife as a result of an accident they have suffered and can also help families ensure they get the full benefits they are entitled to receive.
