Worker at meat plant injured on the job

Any kind of factory work can pose many dangers, some hidden and some very obvious. The types of machines used in meatpacking and processing plants can be dangerous when used and also dangerous when they need to be cleaned or repaired. Anyone in California who works at a factory or facility where dangerous equipment is used may be interested in a recent incident that resulted in a worker being injured on the job.

A worker was injured on the job at a Tyson Foods Inc. facility in late October. The injured worker was a contract worker who worked for a company that cleans the machines at the facility. According to reports, the man’s hand was pinched inside of the machine while he was cleaning it, which resulted in serious injuries.

The injured worker was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. He had a laceration to his hand, but reportedly did not suffer damage to any tendons or ligaments and did not receive any fractures from the incident. There is an ongoing investigation into what happened.

When a worker is injured on the job, the consequences are often unpredictable. An injury may impact a worker’s ability to continue to earn wages and support his or her family. In California, an injured worker should be fully aware of the kinds of the benefits allowed by workers’ compensation law and understand how those benefits can help with recovery from injuries and provide financial security that is often lost when an injury requires a long recovery period.
