Worker injured on the job while clearing snow from roof

Any kind of work done at a great height or while on the roof of a building can pose a hazard to a worker. When dangerous or treacherous weather makes the task of being on a roof more perilous, there may be a greater chance that a worker may be injured on the job. Any California worker who has to be on a roof and fears winter weather may make a job harder may want to follow the story of an out-of-state worker who recently fell through a roof on which he was working.

The incident was related to snow removal from the roof of a trucking company. A 48-year-old man was on the roof clearing the snow when he fell through a skylight. It was estimated that the man fell roughly 25 feet into the building below.

The man landed on boxes and then rolled off onto the concrete floor. He needed to be transported to a hospital via ambulance. He was injured, but no specifics about the exact nature of the injuries were reported.

When a worker is injured on the job and needs medical treatment, medical bills and lost wages may impact that worker’s ability to stay financially stable as he or she recovers. In California and other states, workers’ compensation benefits are designed to alleviate some of the financial burdens injured workers often face. Some workers may be intimated by the complexity of filing a workers’ compensation claim and may find it beneficial to seek legal assistance.
