Work injury results in construction worker’s electrocution

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2015 | Industrial Workers' Accidents |

As many California residents know, accidents can occur in many lines of work. However, when work injuries occur, the victims are often at construction sites. Due to the heavy equipment typically employed, the heights climbed, as well as the overall dangerous working conditions, accidents are unfortunately common. A recent work injury that occurred at a construction site resulted in one worker being sent to the hospital.

The accident in question occurred at the construction site of a massive residential and commercial building located in the downtown area of an out-of-state city. It occurred on a recent Wednesday in September, around 9:30 a.m. The injured construction worker in question, a 56-year-old man, was engaged in pouring concrete from the second floor at the time his equipment touched an electrical line. The worker was electrocuted and suffered electrical burns.

When emergency crews responded, the worker was conscious and alert. He was quickly treated,  lowered to the first floor and taken to a nearby field, at which point he was airlifted to a local hospital. The severity of his injuries is currently unknown, according to the authorities.

When an employee suffers a work injury, he or she is entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim. Successfully filed, this type of claim can result in benefits being awarded to allow the employee to regain some of the financial losses he or she has incurred due to being injured, such as lost pay and medical bills. In the state of California, experienced workers’ compensation lawyers can help individuals with similar types of legal claims.
