Construction accident might result in workers’ compensation claim

An out-of-state construction accident that occurred recently took one construction worker’s life while seriously injuring another. A car ran off the roadway and traveled through a construction site where the two individuals were working, police say. When construction accidents like these occur in California that result in construction workers suffering injuries, those workers are typically entitled to file for workers’ compensation benefits.

The accident occurred in February on a recent Tuesday morning. Police say that a 26-year-old man was driving a car when it left the roadway and crashed into two construction workers around 10:30 a.m. One worker was a 21-year-old man and the second was a 50-year-old man. Police say the car carried the younger man on the hood for almost a block before it collided with a telephone pole and came to a stop.

The younger of the two Texas workers died at the scene of the accident. The older man was rushed to a local medical center, and he sustained head trauma as well as a serious leg injury. The driver might have been driving while intoxicated, police say.

Any employee injured while on the job is legally entitled to seek legal advice in addition to financial assistance. In the case of this construction accident, the injured worker is entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim in order to recoup some of the financial losses incurred due to lost pay and medical bills. In the state of California, an experienced workers’ compensation lawyer can help injured workers with similar types of legal claims.
