Man may seek workers’ compensation claim after accident

An out-of-state construction worker recently suffered a serious work injury due to his being run over by a piece of construction machinery. The man had been working at a construction site on a recent Friday morning in February, local police said. Just as this man will likely be entitled to file a claim for workers’ compensation, California workers who are injured while at work are similarly entitled to do the same.

Local police said that the man’s injury was reported around 11:25 a.m. The local fire department arrived and treated the injured construction worker for an injury he suffered to his leg. The injury was reportedly caused by an earthmover and was severe enough that a regional medevac helicopter was arranged to fly the worker to the closest local hospital that had a trauma center.

The accident occurred at a construction site in Suffolk County on Montauk Highway, where a two-story commercial property was being erected. Southampton Town Police detectives are still investigating this incident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified, as well.

Anyone who is injured while working has every right to seek legal advice and assistance after an accident occurs on the job. In the case of this workplace accident, the worker is entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim as he seeks to recoup some of the financial losses incurred due to lost pay and medical bills. In the state of California, an experienced workers’ compensation lawyer can help individuals with similar types of legal claims.
