Hit by steamroller, man suffers work injury

A California man was injured when he was recently struck by a steamroller while at work. The work injury transpired in mid-May. It occurred in El Dorado Hills, El Dorado County.

The man, who was employed by the El Dorado County Department of Transportation, was hit by the steamroller at a construction site around 11 a.m. on a recent Tuesday in May. The DOT Director reported that the man is currently in the hospital, but the report did not reveal any personal information. OSHA is currently conducting its investigation into the incident.

One of the injured man’s coworkers said that the crew was in the process of spraying oil into a hole in order to prep a road to be paved. The steamroller was navigated into position, at which point the worker piloting the roller backed in, pinning the worker in the process between the roller and a pickup truck. The victim was reportedly conscious while he was taken to a local medical center, but the El Dorado Hills Fire Department’s emergency crew reported that he was in critical condition.

When a California worker is involved in an accident that results in a work injury, that worker is fully within his or her legal rights to file a workers’ compensation claim. Successfully navigated, this type of claim may help an injured worker with costs typical of injuries of this nature, including hospital bills, lost pay and, when necessary, physical therapy. An injured worker typically chooses to consult an experienced workers’ compensation attorney to assist with this process. In the event a claim is denied initially, an attorney can provide ongoing support through the appeals process as well.
