Worker falls 30 feet, suffers serious work injury

On Behalf of | Oct 8, 2015 | Industrial Workers' Accidents |

Work accidents often occur at California construction sites. Due to the great heights at which workers often work, as well as the heavy machinery typically found on a job site, a work injury in these circumstances can result in serious injuries. A recent out-of-state construction accident ended up with a worker injured and sent to the hospital.

The October accident occurred in the downtown area of a city in another state. A 33-year-old construction worker had climbed a ladder to the third floor on a work site, only to fall through a piece of plywood, according to the site foreman. The man plummeted about 30 feet to the ground.

Emergency responders from the Jersey City Fire Department arrived and began treating the injured worker. According to the police report, the worker complained of suffering back pain. He was rushed to a local medical center and received an initial diagnosis of a possible mid-back fracture.

When a California worker is injured on the job, he or she has the right to seek legal advice and assistance after suffering a work injury. In the case of this recent construction accident, the man will be entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim so that he may recoup some of the financial losses incurred due to the accident, such as lost pay due to missed time from work as well as medical expenses. Workers in similar situations often choose to consult with an attorney experienced in handling workers’ compensation claims in order to ensure fair treatment and that all applicable benefits are received.
