Construction worker suffers work injury when car hits him

On Behalf of | Feb 11, 2016 | Industrial Workers' Accidents |

An accident that occurred recently involved a car and injured a construction worker. The accident took place on a recent Tuesday in January near West El Camino, a California Highway Patrol Officer said. When employees suffer a work injury, they are entitled to file a claim for workers’ compensation benefits.

That morning around 4:30 a.m., a car driven by a 36-year-old Olivehurst man was traveling in the eastbound lane of I-80, a little west of West El Camino. It was then that the car entered a portion of the freeway in which a lane had been closed to traffic. The car then struck a trailer, which in turn, struck the worker, police say.

The worker was a 27-year-old Sacramento man, and he suffered minor injuries. The driver was extricated from his vehicle by the Sacramento Fire Department, after which he was taken to a local medical center to be treated for what appeared to be major injuries. The worker was rushed to the same medical center.

An accident that results in a work injury may leave an employee either injured or perhaps unable to even continue to work his or her current job. However, much like this individual, the victim deserves to be compensated for the full extent of all financial losses he or she incurred as a result of the accident, including missed work, medical bills, rehabilitation needs and other related expenses. As do many other California workers, construction workers deserve a complete financial and physical recovery for any injuries they sustain on the job.
