Four construction workers suffered injuries due to their involvement in a recent construction accident. The accident, which occurred out-of-state, occurred on a recent Thursday in late June. Just as in California, due to the fact that the victims were injured while working at a construction site, they will qualify for workers’ compensation.
The accident, which occurred around 7:45 a.m. at a hospital job site, may have been due to faulty scaffolding, a representative from the hospital said. The crew was working on an expansion of the hospital. A crew composed of eight workers was in the process of erecting a new wall when part of the scaffolding collapsed, injuring four of the workers.
Two workers were airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in critical condition; one was rushed to another hospital, while the fourth was treated at the hospital the workers were at when the accident occurred. None of the victims’ injuries were considered life-threatening. An official cause of the accident has yet to be released, but work at the hospital was halted so that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) could conduct its investigation.
A workers’ compensation claim may involve several parties and may sometimes get very confusing without the help of an attorney. When a California employee is injured on the job, that individual is fully within his or her rights to submit a workers’ compensation claim. Injured employees such as these injured construction workers typically choose to consult an experienced workers’ compensation attorney in order to gain assistance with the filing of the claim.
