Fatal industrial accident remains under investigation

Every family in California likely has the reasonable expectation that their loved one will return home from their work shift safe and sound. However, the unfortunate fact is that some workers fall victim to an industrial accident. In fact, a worker was recently killed in such an accident in another state.

The incident happened one morning on a day in late January. According to reports, rescue workers reported to ADM Milling Co after receiving a call about someone who experienced a cardiac arrest. The incident reportedly happened in an elevator chute.

The body could not be retrieved until the next day, and the victim's identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the incident. However, law enforcement officers have indicated that the accident was ruled industrial in nature. Representatives for the company have indicated that they are working with law enforcement authorities during the investigation into the incident.

Also investigating the industrial accident is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. According to OSHA representatives, the organization is aware of the incident and has six months to complete an investigation. While the investigation may determine the exact details of the accident, the victim's family will likely still be left with multiple questions, potentially including how they will be able to meet their financial obligations while coping with lost wages and funeral expenses. Fortunately, they may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits. Many victims of accidents such as this in California have opted to seek professional guidance as they pursue a fair settlement.
